Ok so else owns a Sealey VAG COM diagnostic?
« on: 02 December 2007, 14:11 »
This is like closing the barn door after the horse has bolted but I was wondering who else has the Sealey VAG COM diagnostic tool.

I bought one the other day and found it useful but not as good as I would have hoped.  HAs anyone else got one?

Should I return it and just get my car hooked upto a proper VAG COM?

Thoughts please..

Al

the sealey unit is just a fault code ready isn't it?

what is it you're after as you might not need the full vag com

Hey buddy,

I was kinda after 'knowing what they hell is wrong with my car' kinda thing :)

I was just wondering if you guys on here rated it as a tool, or if Ihave just been mugged by GSF.

I hooked it up to my mates 1.4 Polo and found his O2 (lamda probe) senor is not working, according to the tool anyway.  My mates got a erratic idle so we cleaned the MAF and I was told that the ecu needs to be reset, which doesn't appear to be an option on the tool.

Anyway...  I have my brother in law's Sharan to hook up next and then my other mates Passat 2.8 V6 Syncro.

I hope this bloody thing works..

Al

i've not used the unit myself as i went straight for vag com with is going to do the same as the fault ready but much much more

how much did gsf charge you as you might be better off just getting a proper version of vag com

£150 notes plus the VAT.  What do you reckon... did they see me coming??

I haven't found a fault that been fixed with its help yet.

I'm being a hero to all my mates by letting them all look their fault codes if they have any.

sounds that way, if you can i'd go and get your money back and get a proper version of VAG COM this will read fault codes allow you to change things, and give you real time diagnostics which make fault finding easier for example you can see the air flow and the rpm so you can tell if the MAF is faulty or if its been fixed
