ya i love the sound of my car, sounds standard when driving normal but when you boot it it sounds gorgeous  i havnt had any probs with my filter been told to stay away from the filters you have to oil though. my gti is on a 1999 plate

mines on a 2000 and standard, but not for long! yeah my mates got a cupra r and sent it in for the revo stage 2 full miltek exhaust & sports cats, when having the service done at the same time he had a k&n filter in it and it f**ked his air flow sensor! so they put in a pipercross sponge filter in!
