Side repeater wiring
« on: 25 November 2007, 14:00 »
Can anyone advise where the wiring for the side repeaters plugs into. I need to pop it back  in for the MOT (still not done since June).

Help would be appreciated.

None taken Joe. On my Rallye the side repeaters have blanking plates so no side repeaters. The MOT centre insist they must go on so I need to pop them back in. I have looked to see if they have been tucked away but I am unable to see them. Also if they have been disconnected would the other indicators flash faster?

I have a spare wiring kit to reinstall them but I am at a loss as to where they plug into?

Cheers

yeah they don't flash faster without them. i always thought the rallye's never came with them so not sure if they would have the wiring? you could just piggyback a wire off the front indicator just for MOT time?

We took 'em off and welded up the holes on our Mk2, never had a problem with MOTs. Some testers can be very 'picky' with cars which have any modifications (no matter how small). Might it be legislation? Our Mk2 is 1985, do later cars have to have side repeaters? I don't know.

the factory plugs for the side repeators can be found under/behind the header tank, cant remember the wire colours off hand, something like green/black and white/black or something.  You'll find 3 wires, one for the live feed to the bulb either side and a common ground.  Nip to your locval scrappy and pinch the repeators and loom from another MK2, its easy to remove :)
