Reverse Lights
« on: 21 November 2007, 18:11 »
Hi,

Bit of a simple question (I Hope).  My reverse lights don't work.  The buls are Ok.  Is there a common problem (i.e. microswitch broken?) that is might be?

Any help is greatly appreciated,

Chris

on mine it was on the top of the gearbox, just pull the plug off and undo with a 19mm spanner.

not sure on the mk4 though

I had this problem on my Mk4.  Changed the bulbs, the fuse and the switch (located on the gearbox) but it turned out to be a fault with the wiring that an auto electrician had to find.

Good luck mate - but if the switch and fuse (cant remember if its the same fuze as the lights) seems ok, there might be need to call for help!

Its a good job not everything in life is as [un]reliable as a volkswagen!

Anyone had a issue with sidelights that seem a bit "sensitive".  I have the OE xenons on mine, and the left hand side side light/parking light seems to not always decide it wants to work.  We all know how much of a mission it is to change the bulbs too - so investigating it seems a nightmare, i just live with it!

(ps: sorry if it seems i might have hijacked this thread)

Yes!  I noticed my passenger side sidelight had blown, after spending about half an hour trying to replace it I abandoned the project.  I checked in the hope that I had sorted a dodgy connection but nothing.  A couple of days later it was working fine!  I noticed that if I switch to full beam then back to sidelights it seems to work but often (not always) not just by turning the sidelights on.  Mysterious.....

Yes - its spooky!  Seems that they have a mind of their own!

Also - since the swines have made everything in the engine bay so cramped, its a nightmare trying to do anything with the headlights!

Anyone noticed the illumination on the climatronic ever flicker - like its cut out for a millisecond.  I often "think" i see this out of the corner of my eye, but not sure if its just a pigment of my imagination.
