Could be a case of I bought the car...can't afford the maintenance!  you never know with some jokers!

<cough> Are you looking at me? <cough>

Those discs are shocking  - if they were on my car I'd be embarrassed to take it anywhere near a garage (especially a main agent) to get them replaced!!

Yebut, he could take it to a garage, and say he'd just bought it like that!

Anyhow, what REALLY fcuked me off, the car was actually in the paddock area, and he was mingling with some of the Clio UK Cup techies - supply the bits, and a slab of Stella, and one of them would have sorted it!

how can the brake disk even look like that - rusty parts and strange grooves? What can be wrong?

The deep grooves are caused by either years/miles of neglect, or using "wrong" brake pads.

The rust on the edge is very common, especially as we sling tons of salt on our roads in the winter.  Also, if he lives anywhere near the coast, the salt from the sea spray will give them a daily dose.

The look of that disk is EGREGIOUS! I wonder how the rest of the vehicle looks like...
