Hes thinking of going to see it tomorrow, i was wondering if any of you know of a buyers guide with a list of what to check for before buying? anything would be a great help as it is for his first car, so if any of you have any links or a list of what to look for, then it would be much appreciated

i used to have one of these cars, great little cars.

the weak point on these is the carburettor, make sure it idles smoothly at around 900 rpm, starts frist time when cold and hot. a new carb will cost about alot, a reconditioned one is about £120 and a weber replacement is about £200.

other than the carb there is just rust to look out for. other than that they are pretty much what you see is what you get.

I screwed the bollocks of mine and it just kept coming back for more. most reliable car i ever had.

i had one at 18 ish was a good car, was at from 91k to98k when i sold it unfortunatly the top mounts were claping, and had a oil leak from somewhere as i thrashed it a lot was enthusiastic as ther not that quick to say the least, as got bored of the power but was great apart from that, only cost 550 when i got it they hardlt seam to of depreciated it all about condition, i still got 400 back as was good nic apart from oil leak
hard to say what to look for depends on milage

Id agree with that ... mine ran fine for a few months and then the carb went, my new weber carb cost me 300 (looks like i got screwed lol).
