having problems with my brothers golf after doing and unsucessful engine conversion
-started out life as a carbed 1.6 driver, 1990
-we put in a mk2 gti engine complete with bosch mechanical fuel injection, fom his old d reg gti (this engine worked in the car before we took it out of).
-didn't bother putting any of the electrical bits for the cold starting at this point.
-the car would start but only idle for around 3seconds before conking out. could get it run by manually pressing the air diaphram inside the airbox/fuel distribution unit.
-this told me that something was stopping the air flow pulling the diaphram up (this diaphram then acts on a spool valve inside the fual distribution unit, thus giving more fuel as more air flows through the system) there is some kind of electrical fuel pressure thingy on the front of the block which i think regulates the fuel pressure acting on the spool valve. however both of my mate's golf's (a mk1 and a mk2 16 valve) will run with this pressure regulator disconected!
-therefore this is leaving me abit confussed! does anyone know what i need to get the fuel injection to run, or much about these systems.
-all i really need to know is what voltages i need to provide to the various cold start systems, i have all the parts i am just unsure what voltages to provide to them.
