You may aswell buy a complete accord 2.2 or 2.3 then youve got everything, sure youd get one for 500 quid. Got nearly 200bhp to start with then. I think a mk2 weighs around 1100kgs, not 100% though. Best getting fibreglass panels and losing the interior.

no problem with car weights then, the civic hatch comes in at 1125kg IIRC

Interior will be scooped right out, not going to mess about with carbon fiber panels atall, cost too much + if they get broken, its alot to replace.
Curlie, your missing the point, i want a golf mk2...
Ive settled on the vtec b18c4 engine.

Anyone know of a mk2 rolling shell?

My 2p

Do it , the engine will quite happily power a mk2 , it hussles the civics and Tegs about quite happily , ad for torque , who needs it , bike engines hardly have any and they seem to do ok , im sure if you manage to seperate the engine loom and the rest of the car loom you could splice it together , CV joints well im sure there is a specilist who would be able to handle a honda inner and a VW outer

it would be easier to drop in a 20v , but its been done before so where is the fun in that

I meant to buy the accord, then use all the bits for the transplant, that way you have absolutely everything from a donor car. Ive just scrapped a mint red shell and a good black one, sorry, plenty around though, just buy a base model from ebay and sell the bits you dont need.

would be an interesting project, but as said a 1.8T conversion will most likely be cheaper. Also, why turbo a v-tec? They have plenty of poke in the high revs where the turbo would be working, but they're slow as f*ck low down.. supercharge instead to solve that problem

if your gonna turbo it anyway why not turbo the 16v? you can get plenty of power from them and will be cheaper and easier. They seem pretty common in america so bits are easy to get and lots of info!!
