hmmm I am SOOOO confused... wondering whether to change to manual     I'm so fickle  :embarassed:

read a test which said that DSG is actually slower than manual. Launch Control was not mentioned.

Don't choose your transmission because of 1 or 2 tenths of a second on a 0-60 run - consider what (and how) you want to drive all the time, real world driving is more more than a blast from the lights.

Mine's run in now and I've got to say, the pull from any gear is impressive, but above 4000rpm the thing just goes intergalactic. Put it this way, I accelerated in third up to the red line and I was just thrown back in the seat. I can totally believe the times you were getting Hurdy. All I can say is awsome!

1/4 mile time was still slower than GTI Springfest, so I wonder what the 0-60 would have been there

Off up to Lake District soon, so I'll have to catch up with a lot of posts next weekend

I was waiting for someone to spot that. All the printouts were the same. I've just noticed the results are on a website at the bottom of the printout

well then it'll have to be DSG as I can always drive manual in my Mk2 GTI 16v - which will probably get a 1.8T conversion 3/4 years down the line.  I didn't like the manual Ed30 because try as I might, I ALWAYS got a nasty jolt every time I changed gear if I was accelerating quite fast.  I would have put this down to my driving skills - or lack of them - but I have never had this problem in another car and I have owned a Subaru Impreza STI in the past. I just put it down to the power of the car - but then the Subaru was producing 260bhp?!  I would have to be VERY careful in my gear changes to avoid the dreaded jolt in the Edition 30.

Oh and by the way... whats 'brutal full-throttle powershifting techniques' as I read this in VW Driver magazine and were wondering what the meant exactly?   :undecided:
