Ho Ho Ho

Just been to the GTI International show and had a jolly good day with guys from the forum :cool:

Decided that I was going to take the "old" Ed30 for a few blasts down the 1/4 mile to see how she's doing

Bl00dy fast I can tell you :shocked:

Couldn't get a 0-60 time at the GTI springfest at the Pod, but this time it's good news......

0-60 in 5.66 seconds
Standing quarter in 14.47 seconds (and that's with 3/4 tank of fuel and my bloody heavy sub in the back :laugh:)

Double good news was at the end of the day I got the runner up trophy for the 1/4 mile in the MKV class...and that was only outdone by The awesome GTI car with all its remaps, intake, exhaust etc (no sour grapes really :embarassed:)

Just read in the VW driver mag that the manual got 5.6 secs 0-60 and I suppose my actual figures give theirs credance :smug:

Also spotted a new S3 go down the strip 0-60 in 5.85 seconds and standing quarter in 14.45.

All we need to do now is get someone to do the 1/4 mile with a remapped ED 30 :drool:

*Now then where's that performance upgrade catalogue* :laugh:

5.66????? woah!! urs all standard??? thats a second quicker than the book! however that is 0.62...

im going tomorrow so should be good. wish i had mine, gotta wait till end of july if its on time!! :(

Yup, stock.

Went down in the morning too, just after an absolute downpour and still got 0-60 in 6.02secs :smug:. So, I would still fancy my chances against an R32 even in the wet :smug:

Mine is manual, how can one get below 6 with manual ?!  :embarassed:

Yes, I used launch control for the first time and got it spot on right. Pulls like a train from the off. I was up against a modded MKV GTI and left it for dead :smug:

I would imagine getting a manual to achieve 0-60 in under 6 seconds would involve dialling in 3.5-4k revs, slipping the clutch off the line with the traction control off and two extremely violently aggressive gear changes. VW Driver said that when they achieved 5.6 seconds for their 0-60 time that:-

"our brutal full-throttle powershifting techniques, necessary to achieve maximum acceleration from the manual gearbox, would never be considered acceptable for normal use"

went today and saw a few e30s run, they all completly wiped out the book speed. all around the 6 second mark
