Supagard
« on: 31 May 2007, 18:19 »
Picking my car up soon, and I have a leaflet from the dealer on Supagard.  They're looking for £300 for it to be done... but he said he may be able to discount it a bit.
I've seen the Supagard kits on ebay for around £40... so it shows what sort of mark up the stealer has!

I'd much rather spend some cash on some good products and apply them myself.
What products should I use?  The car will be brand new, so I want to 'protect' it all whilst its in showroom condition before it gets in a mess!
I've seen tubs of alloy wax which protect the wheels (I assume I take them off and apply all over?).  I'm looking for interior and exterior stuff!!!
Golf R... 3 door, DSG, Leather, Reflex Silver, Black 19" Talladega Wheels, ACC, Parking Sensors, RNS510 with Dynaudio, Reverse Camera, Luxury Pack, Cruise Control & Fiscon Bluetooth.

Don't do it, it's just not worth £300 or even £150 IMO, as I've mentioned before, I had it done (properly) by my brother in law, who did it for a living, it's good for about 6 months, so no better than 3 or 4 good quality waxes.and that's if it's done properly, preparation is everything, and chances are the lads who apply it, are doing 3 a day,and completely fed up.

Interesting how prices vary for Supaguard / Autoglym Lifeshine treatments. My dealer does Supaguard for £200 - but managed to get half price Supaguard ie £100 as he was not doing any deals on price of ED30.

My dealer threw the Lifeshine in as part of the deal. Yes, it looked ok,  :undecided: but IMO its looks better when I've waxed it myself and I know that its been done properly. Oh, and they supposedly polished the windows, but it was done so bad that when the sun was shining on it I could hardly see out when driving.  So as soon as I got home I got the chamois out and re-did it myself. Bottom line - don't pay for it, if its offered for free, take it.
