Air con takes power away from engine - True or False ?

true, and you don`t need to lose any more power in a mk3  :tongue:

You can switch it off when you want to nail it... air con system has a clutch which disengages when you turn it off

obviously, so a mk3 16v with air-con when switched on has less power

tis true, same with any air con car, your going to lose 1 or 2 bhp, nothing really noticeable

Dont notice it much at all in the Golf. It does have quite an effect in my Pug.
