calculated some times from VW driver/my records/graph

0-30 = 1.75

0-40 = 2.6

0-50 = 4.8

0-60 = 5.9

0-70 = 7.7

0-80 = 9.5

0-90 = 12.3

0-100 = 14.86

With a MKII cammed and free flow exhaust you may be at 140bhp so 140/1.1ton = 128bhp/ton + manual gear change.
With a MKV ED30 DSG standard with 227bhp gives 227/1.4 = 162bhp/ton + gearchanges at 0.02sec

In my calculated opinion it is a new urban myth trying to be started by some MKII owners

quick search on google seems to indicate the mk2 weighs about 930kg, so i guess i could be possible as at lower speeds that massive difference in weight would really help, but once the mk5 gets into its stride the extra power would show and itll pull away

If that's so it may be a little closer

MKII = 140bhp/0.93ton = 150.5bhp/ton
MKV std manual GTI = 197bhp/1.328ton = 148bhp/ton + heavier inertia

So, not as much of an urban myth as I first thought

i think it changes on 60mph from 2nd to 3rd but having dsg , i havent noticed exactly
