Another recall here:

http://www.whatcar.com/news-article.aspx?NA=224279

"Volkswagen wants to check 4842 Golf and Golf Plus models because a heating element may not be earthed properly and could lead to a fire. Cars carrying the VIN numbers from WVWZZZ1KZ7W534410 to WVWZZZ1KZ7W582714 and WVWZZZ1KZ7W087591 to WVWZZZ1KZ7W159870 are potentially affected.
"

This was from February and I've just found it by chance  Looks like mines gonna have to get checked out

Mine is a mid 2005 DSG engine code AXX. VIN 1K6  Was having big problems with the DSG flat spotting when trying to accelerate, after slowing for say a roundabout etc, you had to come back off the gas, then go back on to pick up revs, also when slowing and turning the box would drop into 1st and rev like hell before wanting to change up. Dealer said their demo had displayed the same issues, until the 24K6 recall was performed.
Mine was done 2 weeks ago, stopped all the problems, DSG is smoother than ever, car picks up faster, and fuel econ has upped 5mpg........thought the car was good before, now even better.  Also top suspension mounts changed to stop constant knocking noises, that worked, but made the steering rack noises more noticeable, so its back for a new rack!!
05 GTI DSG, Steel Grey,Monzas,Xenons,Leather etc.,  SOLD

With that VIN, it is actually a 2006 model year car.  :nerd:

My vin number is a 1k5  (2005 model yr)and enquired about if mine needed updating with the recall .Apparently mine doesnt need it, shame cus could of been good to gain a few more MPG from 28 town average.

You could still take it in to the stealer, complaining of some immaginary missfire or rough running, and sort of mention you heard through the grapevine that VW had released an updated ECU map to cure such problems.  The stealer then has to update to the latest available map.   :smug:

Mine is getting done on Thursday, car has not been set up for variable servicing, so sorting both at the same time.

As per my response in your other thread - you really should not be on LongLife servicing.

My AAX 06 year model (UK registered 05) is currently running 0060 on the ECU but is Revo Stage1 remapped. She's being serviced on 14th (next week) and my dealer knows about my remap and I'll be switching her back to stock for the service. I have a good relationship with my dealer and they are going to inform me of everything they do. If my car needs an ECU update, I'll be visiting my Revo tuner afterwards rather than risk switching it back myself as there are known issues - Easily solved by Revo.

I'll report in due course.
