Hi all, good to be part of the forum.

Have been looking around at the other threads on best tyres for minimising road noise and improving the ol' ride comfort conundrum.... are there any new tyres on the market that are helping with this issue?

Regardless, can someone please advise the money-no-object (within reason) tyre to go for!

Cheers
D.

PS - anyone know of any GTI tuning experts in South Wales area?

I've yet to use a better tyre than a Michelin PS2, but that was on a BMW.

Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 will quite literally run rings around other tyres!

Wow, love a forum with quick response!!!

Looking at the michelin site, there seem to be a variety of PS2's on there (standard, 2, XL's etc)....

Can you recommend a specific one for a 3dr DSG with the 18" ers' on it; if i'm shelling out best part of a grand, then want to get it right!

Also, any ideas on the Cardiff tuning?

I don't think you will need the XL's (extra load)

Hello matey, welcome to the fold.

From personal experience, 40 profile tyres are too hard. My Mk4 Anniversary had Goodyear Eagle F1's on it, and they were quite hard compared to my 45's Continentals which give you confidence, but don't jar your back at the sight of a 10p in the road. The noise comparison between 40's and 45's was minimal, but that could be down to the fact that there is considerably more sound proofing on the BM, and it's a coupe not a hatch.

What a load of nonsense - using your logic then, the 35 profiles in my RS4 should have me addmitted to a spinal injuries unit!

40 series tyres on the GTI work just fine - which is why the manufacturer recommended them in the first place!

No, they shouldn't have you admitted to a spinal unit, as the suspension on the RS4 allows for it. The Eibach springs fitted as standard to my Mk4 Anniversary didn't cope too well - thats all!
