Damn blast, why do i not leave thigns alone - if it ain't broke, then don;t touch it

Decided to change the headlight bulbs (H4, single reflector) - removed the cap at the back of the headlight bowl and started wrestling with the bulb clip - it was very tight, and unable to get the clip over the retainers on the top by pushing down as described in the manual.
So with a bit of brute force and ignorance i decided to try to lift the clip over the retainers, only to be met by a sharp snappign sound and now the white plastic inner of the headlight is loose on the lower / outer adjuster

Headlight beam is now somewhat downward !

Question - have i broken the unit ?, in which case can i just buy the inners without the headlight glass etc ? or have i been lucky and just popped out the adjuster screw from the unit

If its the latter is it possible to reattach the inner to the adjuster screw arm without disassembling the whole headlight unit ?
