10.4 in mine too..  was just gonna say so meself... but ya beat me to it.

still everything i read about the 8v says its a sack of potatoes..

how can a car that accelerates slower than the 16v be 'more torquey' ?

why did they bother to put the traction control on it and the vr6 if it wasnt needed?

btw.. is the difference between a 8v and a 16v really that bad?

the reason i didnt get a vr6 is because of the high insurance, i refuse to pay that much. i only looked at the 16v vs vr6.

Ok, imagine this.

Your 18, you've had your licence 9month, and u want a sportier car than a 1.4 Golf match mk3.

So you look around and see these few cars that, u can buy and afford and can also get insurance on ... just

1: VW Golf GTI 8v mk3 3dr Black (mine)
2: Citroen Saxo VTR 90Bhp (Before the face lift)
3: Vauxhall Nova SRI
4: Vauxhall Corsa 1.4 (dunno what trim but loadsa lads have em)
5: 1.2 Renault Clio (Before the face lift)
6: Peugeot 106 Quicksilver 1.4 8v 75Bhp
7: Rover 25 1.4 16v 103Bhp
8: Fiat Punto 1.4 (Again loadsa lads/lasses have em and mod them)
9: Ford Fiesta 1.25 Zetec
10: Citroen XT GT

Now what would you choose? ... cos I wanna know if you'd pick what I picked... or should I have bought summet else from that list that I could afford etc?

Dont go shouting ... buy a real GTI ... buy a 16v cos I COULDNT AFFORD IT ... and also dont even think about mentioning mk1/2 Golf's, cos I wanted a 90's car ... preferably newer than my N reg Golf Match.

.. so go on... did I choose well? ... or should that nice XT GT have been mine? or perhaps the Punto? ... hmmmm

Ok, lets just clarify summet

1: I wasnt willing to pay more than ?1000, thats money down the drain
2: When I quoted anything more powerful than my 8v the result was

WE CANNOT QUOTE YOU ON THIS CAR which basically is a big **** you sign ... so that was out of the question

3: I had just bought a car that cost more than I actually had and therefore the loan needed to be paid also.

4: I had only just started my job
5: .. does there really need to be a 5? ... ok heres no. 5 : Im a named driver.

insurance is the reason i didnt get a vr6.. f**k paying 1200 quid.. i can afford it, but i refuse to pay that much.

my 1.4 polo open air was only 680 to insure.. 70 quid extra for a valver?

before the polo i wanted a karmann cab originally.. but they wanted silly money to insure that too..
