sour topic - insurance on gti's :/
« on: 03 March 2007, 19:44 »
I've read a lot of threads on here about insurance and i just thought i'd post up a quick one for you all, i know martin doenst insurae anyone under 19 but hopefully i may be 19 by the time i come to insure it, it'll be a mk2 gti and i was wondering how much it's gonna cost me with 1 years no claims and third party?

I should hopefully have 1 years no claims as i havnt had an accident yet and generally young drivers crash not long after their test. There is a possibility i can get my hands on a mk2 gti that needs a bit of work, my dad said we might be able to buy it, do it up and sell it, but i'm thinking that if i do that i'm gonna want to keep it so i'm just trying to get a feeler, or do you think it would be better to sell it on and save the dollar?

keep your hair on, i was going to have them but i realised i wouldnt be able to use the rear seats if i had them, which i kind of need to travelling back and forth to uni every week.

Besides the money's going to faster and greater things, hopefully

Mine cost me £800 for 10 months tpft with no no claims at 20, after been driving for nearly two years.

That's for an 8v though, I looked into insuring a 16v but came out a fair bit more money

I'd expect it to be not far on the pretty side of a grand really, depending on where you live!

i'm 19 in july and i've been driving for 14 months, hopefully with 1 years no claims bonus at the end of september or august cant remeber

Can i also ask martin, seeing as your a Vw driver, does your insurance policy price go skywards if it has alloy wheels and it slammed onto the floor? That seems to be the case for my mk3 at the min so it's left as standard, and poss a single light grill instead of the dual ones.
