  • No golfs here. Only a C63 mercedes
You'll probably find this guy has done it because of the prang he had in it.

It's more than likely he's had a settlement from the insurance company and instead of replacing OE parts, he's gone down the GTI replica route - at the time, the cost of upgrading to GTI parts over the standard 1.4 parts wasn't too much.

The cost of the transformation was probably £3500, with the insurance company probably donating £2750 of it....

actually guys,

i've done the same thing to my 1.6.

Tho, i've not got the carbon fibre bonnet, or the nasty aftermarket alloys, i went for a set of genuine 18inch Monzas.

anyway, i doubt it actually cost him that much to do it.

my car cost just under £1k to do everything in total, so i reckon the guy is bullsh***** abt the cost to try and jack up the price.

^^

why does any1 do anything to their cars?

i didn't like the look of it as standard, so jus changed the front bumper.

insurance prevents mne from the real deal for the time being.

  • The poor mans MK2 Haynes author
i can understand why someone would want to change the looks of a car to make it look like a newer model.

take a look at the peugeot i have....what it looked like when i got it, to what it looks like now.

.....now tell me that doesnt look better?

I hate the fact that he's got a GTI badge on it!!!!!!!!!!

I reminds me of when i used to kick around in my Type R, one of the local lads had Type R badges all over his 1.6 Sport!  why oh why!?!?!

Phil

i reckon your talking this down so that you can buy it cheaper lol

I like the bit about fitting a GTi exhaust gives you much more power, I wonder how much?   from 100 to 200bhp perhaps?  lol

Maybe theres a GTi somehwere with all of those bits missing
