There are 4 main locations*:

dashboard, driver's side

below the driver's door strike pin

on the firewall, passenger side, below the black plastic rain tray (NOTE: 5 digits of this VIN location are Z's)

on the sticker inside the trunk

*1987 to 1993 Cabriolets also have VIN stickers on the underside of their hoods and trunk lids in addition to the above listed locations.

I just had a look on our system at work for you Han and it actually seperatly lists a VW golf GTi Black Cabr made on a 1985, dunno if this was a special edition or summat then? It came out as a grp 39 (out of 50) on our system which is actually lower than a if i just choose a normal VW golf gti cabr on a 1985 (grp 43!)!

That may have slightly affected the quote we gave you cos i just rated it as the normal one.....

Martin
a special edition lower in insurance? id have thought it would be the other way round unless the special edition was like a smaller engine, say a gli or summit...or am i being a gonk?!  :undecided:

Yeah strange isnt it? I guess it may be something to do with claim statistics or something?? (rarer version of the same car hence fewer claims?? )

Dunno really, just guessing??  :undecided:

I just put the details on here:

https://www.hpicheck.com/consumer/?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=&B1=Vehicle+Reg+Number+Search

and it came up Volkswagen, the CC and year and gave no details on the model like usual which is strange.

Its not an import or something is it?
