aye the price is way too high for a car with the original engine in it imo , try and knock him down , as the engine is original this is the area to concentrate on , check it from cold start (make sure the engine is cold to the touch and he hasnt warmed it up prior to you collecting it) also check the oil and level , the coolant condition and level , take out a spark plug and make sure its a nice light brown colour with only a little deposit , then take it for a long drive checking things like braking , turning full lock to lock (listen for odd noises) , get the engine up to full temperature and pop the bonnet to see if theres any leaks etc. then find all the faults you can to bring the price down (tyres , brake pads , broken bits etc , the more you point out , the better haggling skill you have :) ) and good luck if ya do go for it , its a nice car , id suggest checking autotrader and piston heads for others to see what that sort of money will get you as well imo. never rush into buying the first car you see!.

ye i was thinking of the £1.5 mark and make him tell me why he should have more lol

as i said to a friend of mine modding your car doesnt make the price rise lol....

it looks like he has changed the clocks to 160mph would that make a difference??

better check the service history and the mot's for mileage then as if hes changed the clocks theres no way of telling if the engines done more miles than he says , also thats gonna mean the speed reading is completely wrong afaik , as the car wont be calabrated for those clocks , (not sure on this though as ive not seen these clocks) , if theres no service history and no proof of mileage , knock him down even more with that, id expect a fsh for that price , my golf might be standard in body compared to his but i have a full service history most of which is volkswagen dealer stamps. that goes along way when selling a car and mine has 168k on the clock even then i wouldnt ask any where near half that price for it lol

i doubt that the owner will take less than 1900 for it. The owner obviously knows what its worth by the sound of things.

is that the Luton mk2?
