HELP WITH HEAD UNIT
« on: 12 December 2006, 19:58 »
hi there
could anyone help me as i have been having trouble trying to install my head unit and every time i connect it up as soon as i turn on the engine i get interference and it even makes a noise when i put the indicators on.

i have replaced the earth and rewired the live but to no joy. i have even borrowed another head unit but this one doesn't do it. is there any thing i can put on it to filter the noise.

thanks Andy

Try putting a supressor in the form of a small capacator in the live wire, see if that helps. It might just be a problem with the headunit that makes it more sensitive to interference.

sometimes also a supressor will need to be fitted on the alternator too, if your going to be fitting amps the rca's will need one in line too by the sound of it, halfords sell them although i have never had this problem so dont know if they work or how well.
