whats the best suspension for a mk4 1.8t?????

hi there :smiley:,
 ive just bought a m4 1.8t ive had it chipped,  forge dv valve, and carbonio cai + anniversary kit, 18inch 8.5 wide rims i use the car every day and do some long journeys, but i want the race car handling like i had on my mk1 gti whats the best suspension for me to get ???? do i need to go for coilovers or can i get a good handling and a smooth ride from fixed suspension??? how far can i lower it with fouling the arches or drive shafts??? hope u can help many thanks!!!!!

fitted eibach springs and shockers about 2 months ago
lowerd car about 35mm handels really well even
with crap ruski tyers on 16"alloys .no proplems with anti roll bar fouling
just need some 18"alloys next year to fill out arches a bit more.

As with most things it all depends on your budget, if you want to go lower than 40mm then you will have change your front arb.

If i was you i would look at changing the ARB's aswell because it really does transform the car.


so for ultimate handling go for coilovers + uprated ARB's (not cheap though)

or for average handling go for lowering springs/ Sport kit
 
And from my experience the better the handling gets the worse the comfort gets. :sad:

cheers fellas, booboo how does your car look after 35mm drop??? i was thinkin bout using ibach but i wondered if 35mm was a big enough drop do u have any pics of your car u could email me???
phill your car looks similar to mine part from the rims and lowness how low is yours and wat make suspension do u recomend???

Phil your car looks similar to mine part from the rims and lowness how low is yours and wat make suspension do u recomend???



I am running FK Konig coilovers with Neuspeed ARB's so not sure how low it is prob around -50mm. If i was to do it again though i would go for the Koni coilover set its the same thing but the shocks have a better finish and don't corrode as bad as the ones of the FK kit.

The beauty of coilovers is you can adjust them to what ever height you want and also adjust the dampers to hard or soft.

hi woodside sorry have no pictures of car lowerd
cant get me computer to up load them. but it does look nice now
everything has seteld down if eneything looks like it sits a bit lower than 35 mm
