No manual or rear speakers..?

Picked up my GTi from Motorpoint the other day (see the thread about imports) and am thoroughly happy with the car with just two exceptions...

It's a 3dr Dutch import and despite being RHD etc, it has a Dutch manual.  I've figured out how the steering wheel and the engine works etc  :rolleyes: but am a bit stumped with a few of the other functions - has anyone got a PDF of the manual available until I can get one from my local dealer. (Also, what will this be likely to cost?).

One other thing... It doesn't seem to have any rear speakers! I know they've got a retro thing going on with the seat trim etc, but this is a bit too far!! It's the standard one disk CD player I have, it has no "Fade" option in the setup menu and there's definitely no sound from the rear.  Is this the standard trim level? Is there an easy way to fit rear speakers behind the grilles in the side trim? The sound from the front only is pretty horrible.  Also, is there and easy way to install an MP3 player 3.5mm lineout to the stereo?

No idea on the stereo but I'd give ebay a try for a manual...

when I had my old MK4 which was an import, there was no speakers in the rear either, maybe its a European thing?

I didn't have a manual for it either, but I phoned VW Customer Services and they sent me a complete manual in the post for free!  :grin:

All uk spec Golfs have rear speakers!

Well it's RHD but definitely too quiet in the back; I assume they live behind the grilles above the ashtray in the side panel? Is there a way to remove this easily to check?

Spoke to my local dealer; a tenner plus VAT for a new manual; not as bad as I'd feared!

Same dutch manual.  Got told by VW UK to send photcopies of V5, service schedule and sticker with ink stamp to

In return they register car on their UK database and will send you a manual.

To lazy to do it myself.  Let me know if it works and will have to get round to it.

Hi Calum

Same here, picked up mine from Motorpoint Wales yesterday and noticed the lack of fader today. Have you found what's required to install
them yet?

Apart from the Speakers and the NL manual the cars perfect, and about 3k under the VW UK dealers price, I tried 3 UK dealers b4 Motorpoint, there was no choice of cars for immediate delivery and not one penny discount off list, best offer was a tank of fuel & free 1st service!
