Mk2 Golf Project - Need some Inspiration.....
« on: 30 October 2006, 07:19 »
Hi Guys

I'm back.... AGAIN lol... I want to get back into a Mk2 i just cant seem to keep away, so ive had a couple of 8v's, I've done the Rallye route I now fancy a Project..  :undecided:  But what???

I've thought about a Mk2 with perhaps a 20vt or a Vr6 supercharged, i'm now running out of ideas and need some inspiration. I'm going to have about 4-6k to spend, this will include car, engine, some paint, interior upgrade, and some nice wide rims ;)  I want something different that stands out and that i can still use as a daily runner.

Any ideas or comments would be really appreciated..

Cheers

Knobby...

Ps... i've got a BMW 330Ci Coupe for sale if anyone is interested....

A really smart standard one with progressive nitros?
Prehaps i'm getting old but how many standard. nice and clean golfs do you see?

Loads of people modify them...... Just an idea.

A supercharged VR would be awesome - imagine the noise !!!

But with that budget in mind I'm not sure sure it would happen; those charger kits are not cheap !!

What about an r32 mk2, or a 16vt, if you are able to do a certain amount of the work yourself then your budget will be more than enough for those I would think. Neither is a common conversion so there aren't many about, nice and different. I'd imagine they'd be pretty fun to drive too!

step 1. Buy Rallye
Step 2. Take G60 engine out
Step 3. purchase VR6 engine and supercharger
Step 4. install
step 5. enjoy

on a serious note though, can you not get cheap pistons etc for VR6's from america, I know that forged pistons for a turbo conversion are cheap (ish) so I presume that it would be the same for supercharged.
