Back in the mk2 gang!!!!!
« on: 17 September 2006, 17:14 »
Been running around in a mk3 diesel for nearly a year now after getting rid of my mk2 8 valve. Thursday I bought myself a mk2 GTD!! Gearbox has thrown a diff pin(?) through the side of the 'box casing. Does anyone know if a 89 gti 8v box will fit my 92 gtd 1.6 engine clutch....has anybody done this? And, do mk3 springs fit mk2s??? any help wil be greatly appreciated. cheers!

It will probably fit but should have different gear ratios. Have a look what code your gear box is - it will be written on the bell housing underneath at the front of the box. Besides the gear ratios, there are two different sizes of driveshaft flange, 90 and 100mm. Take a look here:-

If your not sure, ask rubjonny - boy is a legend!

Good luck
