clifford alarm/immobiliser nightmare
« on: 16 September 2006, 22:21 »
hello peoples, just had the head off to change the head gasket and stuff. it was apart for a week and we got it together tonight after a hard slog. So... went to start 'er up and nothing happened except the doors locked and then unlocked when i turned the ignition off. battery is charged. all wires everywhere that we can see are plugged in. I never put the alarm in it, (it was in it when i bought the car) so i dont know even what model it is... or what the disarm the disarming code is. i tried the standard recommended by the clifford website, but it didnt work. also the remote central locking isnt working like it used to. any ideas anyone pleeeeeeeeeeease? its been such a long road of work putting it all together, does it all stop here with the damn clifford? I suppose i could call a clifford engineer at 150 pounds an hour..............

does it have 'valet' mode on it? if so put that on, disconnect the battery for a short while, try again. cliffords are a nightmare i'm tempted to ditch mine when i do my engine swap.

was the alarm off when you started the head work? what lights come up on the dash when you turn the key?

hi thanks for the reply. as you can imagine the frustration is pretty huge. ive tried the 'valet' code which i think is button 1 then 'level' button twice then button one again. but nothing happens. the alarm wasnt on when we started the work. i never turn it on in normal use. i just usually use the key in the door even though i have remote central locking. cliffords are pretty sensetive as im sure you know if you have one?!
on the dash is like a line of lights, i think its 2 red and 2 green. not sure. a bit like if you stall it...
before all of this side indicators used to light up with the remote when the chirp happens, but now there is no chirp and the side indicators dont light up, and the remote central locking doesnt work at all....
disconnect the battery and then connect it again? ok, will try that tomorow. any other ideas tho?
thankyou!!

hmmm my indicators don't wrok either at the mo when arming/disarming, but i'm getting it looked at.

to enter valet mode on mine is twice on the level button then button 3.

if all the lights on the dash are on and if you can't hear the fuel pump prime its immobilised. try turning the key then pressing the arm button (either one, the top one does it with noise, the bottom without noises) cliffords have a habit of 'spiking' which seems to reset afetr a while....

hi thanks again for your help,
so is it possible that it might reset itself overnight? hmm hope so. i will try your button technique. i dont even know whiich model it is that i have. clifford, yikes... but i have a fob for the dash and a remote with one big blue button tree other little ones on the same face, and then the 'level' one on the side. it looks pretty old cos its quite worn.
im not sure if the petrol pump is priming or not, there is a buzzing noise but i think its coming from the isv....

hmmm well leave it overnight, can't do any harm then try to go through it logicly. use my method of going into valet mode and see what happends. it does sound like its spiked, but i don't have a 100% method of fixing it. mine has always fixed itself after a decent drive, which doesn't help as you can't start yours!!

ok don't go to clifford, go on their website and they list a load of dealers, they'll be cheaper than £150 for call out. annoying though. if i find anything else out i'll let you know.

Try finding the fuses sounds like it has blown there should be two inline fuses running to the brain, Clifford central locking is usually two relays wired seperatley so that would still work, is the remote a 4 button carbon fibre one or the grey two button one?
I used to be a Clifford enginner so any more questions ask away, does sound like the fuses have gone if not pull both of them for 1 min then put them back in. hth

Probably got lost in the "Great Crash of 08

heeeeeellllllp. this is so frustrating. we took out the main cosnsol (i tried all button sequences, standing on my head and rubbing my belly whilst sticking my finger in plug socket etc) and found the alarm behind its a waso expit. we unplugged every wire from it, and the sensor above. and tried to start the car and the same thing happened, just lights on dash and doors locking!!
how can this be, if im sitting there with it in my hand???!!
please help!!!
