AFAIK to fit you need to cut into your brake servo vacuum hose in order to insert a T-piece, then the Ecotek screws onto the T-piece, and that's it.

(I'm sure one of the guys that has fitted it can correct me if I'm wrong)

I was thinking about getting one of those, but I don't know whether I could put up with the sound it makes when you come off the gas.

I've used the Ecotek power boost de - coke foam and that worked.  You could tell the difference imediately, amazing stuff really, so I would of thought the valve would work.  I've read some good reviews.

Yep, some of those sprays may help de-coke your engine and you might experience better performance, or to put it another way your car might run like it used to before the engine got dirty !

I can't trust the "reviews", they're often either pure propaganda on behalf of the manufacturer or written by the same type of people that claim they can "feel" 20 BHP extra since they added their K&N  ::)  (More likely that their existing filter was all clogged up and simply needed replacing with an OE part !)

Until I hear of a reputable tuner that endorses them together with some RR output graphs as evidence, I will consider them to be a gimmick.

Have a read of this :

Also check the links given by the bloke in his review...

I had the original air box and the filter was spotless!

Honestly if you tried it you would feel the difference!

As for 20bhp, I don' know about that.  I't supposed to put the engine back to factory standards and it wouldn't suprise me if it did.

It works!!!!

Sorry, the bit about 20 BHP is aimed at claims made about the valve and I was insinuating that some of the valve reviews were written by people that think that a K&N filter makes their car a World-beater !

(I'm not doubting that the spray helped you)

ive read about these devices, and the views fall in to two camps - 'lay' opinion that generally raves but this varies, and professionals who laugh at the very idea.

My problem, being in the lay camp, is they dont give you any proper figures on the improvements, its all '15-30% fuel saving'. Id like to see firm examples.

this is probably one of the best written peices, which basically says dont bother: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/cains1/Fuel_saving.htm
