Start's first time.... Just not second time!!?
« on: 14 August 2006, 15:14 »
My 8v Digipant is being a bit of a stroppy teenager at the moment!

He starts fine first thing in the morning regardless of the weather. And 99% of the time he drives smoothly too. I get the odd 'judder' at low revs in the higher gears which isn't that much of a problem. Just annoying having to drop a gear and frighten small children with the noise!

My latest problem is if i have to stop anywhere for a short length of time, like petrol stations... He just refuses to start again and has to take a 10-20 minute break. Is it running too rich maybe? And sort of flooding when i stop?

If it was a carb on a Mini then i'd have it sorted in two shakes of a spanner! But i'm baffled when it comes to injection! There's nothing to get the mole grips round, and i can't find the USB port!

HELP!

replace the blue temp sender, £13 from VW.  If you need the part # its in the ETKA part # thread :)

The parts guy will try to terll you its for catalyst cars only, ignore him and buy it anyway!  Don't bother with pattern ones they're rubbish.

Cheers Jon. I'll have a look for my local v-dub parts place.

That seems to be the answer to everything! Replace the blue temp sender! What's the reason behind this?

It tells the ECU how hot the coolant is, and the ECU adjusts the mixture accordingly.  Its always the first thing to replace when troubleshooting digifant issues.  Even if it doesn't fix the problem at least you know for sure that the ECU is operating as it should :)
