recommendations required for new tyres

hi to all

im after a set of 4 tyres for my 1999 1.8t gti (20v).

i currently run with p6000s but was wondering if anything newer is better - obviously technology moves on and the compounds improve.

i would be grateful for any recommendations/suggestions eg. is there an advantage to having, say a harder compound on the front wheels, or should all four be the same.

also, any good websites would be helpful - preferably ones that you have dealt with as opposed to googled.

just for reference in am in north west london, but travel between here and bedford, so any fitters along the way will be considered.

lastly i have the bbs 16" rims - shown in my dub gallery.

recommendations vary; I've got Michelin Pilot Primacy on the front and Pirelli on the back. they came with the car 6 months ago.  Both seem to have lasted ages; around 15K from what i can work out.  Dry and wet weather grip is excellent from the Michelin's, not convinced by the Pirelli's.

Goodyear F1 and Bridgestone normally get a good write up on here.  I'll either be going for more Michelin's or try the Bridgestone RE 720.  you can pick them up for around £70 a corner from www.mytyres.co.uk

I used black circles the last few times and the dunlop 9000's have been awesome for me.  Don't last long, but grip like sh@t

Bridgestone RE720's all the way!  Amazing grip wet & dry, hard wearing & pretty quiet, too.  Also stiffer sidewalls than the proven excellent Godyear Eagle F1 GSD-3's.

I'm trying B/S SO2 Pole Positions next, though, as they're supposed to be even better than the RE 720's!

I got continental sport (unsure of the code) on mine, and I gotta say, they are astounding.  I'll be putting them on again when the time comes, guaranteed.

My mate also has them on his A4 1.8T, and could just about keep up with my mates 22B...  (Although, maybe he wasn't booting it enough, being a rally driver and all)

plus ive found a coupon that gives me an additional 20% off!!

that works out at £255.62 for a new set of 4 all in...

now thats got to be worth it right!!!

I've recently brought some F1's for my fronts from mytyres and found them really good to deal with. Tyres came within a week and cost £66 plus £15 to fit two fronts at my local garage.

You can't fail at that price - Pilot 2's are sweet on the 325 Beemer, Run the rear tyres at lower pressure than they say in the manual, particularly - If no one and no weight is in the back of the car. That way you will get more grip, less bounce. Say at 28/29 lbs
