Hi Everyone

I own a 2002 02 MK4 anniversary 1.8t with 35000 miles on the clock. I bought the car privately (as they are a little hard to get hold of) about four months ago with 30000 miles.

The emmissions light came on a while back and after extensive testing at Grimsby VW they have found that its a split MAF breather hose and a "non functioning" engine cooling fan!

Having read some of the post on here I decided to phone VW uk to voice my concerns at having to spend £300 on replacement parts for my car at on 35000 miles! (especially as I have already spent £160 on a new wiper motor).

When I phoned VW their response was that it is not a recognised problem on VW golf MK4 and as such they were unwilling to repair it gratus! Having read the ammount of posts on here regarding failed fans I have decided to inform VW what their customers actually experience.

As such I am sending out a request to anyone who has had engine fan problems (I know thats a lot) and asking them to respond to this with preferably an email address so I can pass it on to VW.

Alternatively  you can email me at dickstar1977@hotmail.com if you want to do it that way?

I have just had my wheels replaced as a good will gesture because so many people complain about Anni wheels and I figure that VW need to wake up a recognise when they have problems.

Any support anyone can  give would be most apprieciated! Please refrain from ranting as I intend to pass this thread on to VW and any emails I recieve! If you cna give your details and reg etc that would be great!

Thanks again

Tom

Sorry to hear about your fan problem, however I haven't come across a problem with mine touch wood.

I will say this, I will never buy a German car in future as I owned my Mk4 Golf GTI for 5 months and its been in the garage 5 times so far.
I'm going to invest in a diagnostic scanner for one. I was charge a tad under £900 for diagnostics and parts and labour for a car I had 3 months and at a cost of £6500.

I'd never take me car back to a VW dealers for work, sooooooo bloody expensive and its not like its a Bentley or Lexus.

Hope you get your problem sorted

Dan
