Basically my 8v gti begins to smoke like theres no tomorrow once the engine has been running for 20 mins or, any ideas of what I need to replace, or am I better just starting over again.

white smoke is water vapour.is itcoming out the exhaust or from the engine or where? more details pls!

Could be oil getting burnt off at higher temps check your oil isn't overfilled as it can go through the breather system and into the air intake.

Thanks guys found the root of my problem I think, my water flange is leaking and the water temp light mustnt be working. Seems my engine had very little coolant in it, which was causing my engine to burn off oil, have put more coolant in for now until I sort out the leaky flange. This seems to have cured my smokey pastimes. Real rookie error and hope I have sorted it.
