16v airbox change
« on: 27 June 2006, 14:06 »
ive taken off my pipercross induction box and got myself a standard one with a vw air filter and then my car wouldnt start, and when it did it would just die, it runs now but i had to turn the idle srew thingy loads and its certainly not running smooth, the only thing thats missing is vacume hoses, heres some pics could anyone enlighten my as to what they go to and weather its whats causing the troublesome running

s anythign else likely to have been afected by this change like the timing or anything like that?

you must have left one of the vacuum hoses off...too much air is getting in. check all the hoses are secure and there are no leaks. you shouldnt have to adjust the screw by much (2-4 turns at most) to idle correctly (~950 rpm).

nah didnt take one off, because the pipercross didnt have any vacume hoses on it,  that one on top of the airbox never had one on....

there was an airleak on that massive rubber thingy that clips to the top of the box, works fine now but my lovely gargle sound has gone, which is ok as i dont sound like a subaru now  plus it idles and responds alot better and ide say its goes a little... maybe not quicker but definatly easier,

anyone know where those vacume hoses go?

that bit just opens the warm air feed from the zaust manifold shroud, its a small solid plastic hose which joins between the top & bottom halves :)
