is it some strange special tool that only main dealers have access to (hence the VAG p/n) that has been resting there for years? Having said that, I work on VWs every day and can't think of a possible use for it on a car. Plenty of other places to use it, yes and maybe even in a car, but never to repair one. Strange.

I think its an early mk2 flower holder. Like the ones you get in new beetles. However all the mk2 origional owners had the sense to throw them away the istant they left the forecourt. Stupid gimiks!
