I agree, dont think changing oil etc would make a difference. Have you tried any of that petrol cleaner stuff ??

It does sound like ya petrol routes are caked in sh!te, although saying that have you cjecked rota arms etc. With problems like this always start with the cheapest cures, u never know eh :)

Well if I was a betting man I would say it sounds like the same problem I had last month....

http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?board=5;action=display;threadid=3904

Quite easy to do and not too complex a task.  Completely cured my misfire problem and all I have now is a stability issue at idle.  Going to me cleaning out the ISV over xmas to see if that cures it.

Not sure if I am wrong but doesn't the golf draw the fuel from the bottom of the tank via the lift pump and if this is the case, then I doubt there will be much chance of crud being pulled through as a) its constantly taking the fuel from the bottom and b) are they not plastic tanks and therefore resilisent to crud/rust ?

Just my 2 mince pies worth  ;)

Merry crimble peeps  8)

I had the same prob with my 8v.Whilst going on holiday and driving at a steady 80mph,when i came off the gas and then went back on-the car would jerk .
It was very  :(ing.
When i got home i was told to put 98ron fuel in,as i had allways run it on normal unleaded 95 ron-this along with some fuel cleaners seemed to do the trick.
BUT.....a problem i have is that at low speeds in say traffic,if you come off the accelorator too quick and go back on,the car seems to jerk forward and backward.
I have been round the houses with this and changed every thing you can think of-fuel injectors, ecu, throtlebody, all electrics..the list goes on and on.But the problem still persists.
I went back to my local indipendant vw garage and after a test drive the so called expert told me that is how mk2's drive!!!!!
M8v has done 150k,but i still drives great apart rom this other prob.
Mind you my old passat GT with the same engine  'pb' has done 200,00 and runs like a new motor (apart from leaking power steering and wheel bearing)and this old passat does not JERK at all....
sometimes you will have to hold your hands up and except that you can get a mystery fault that will cost you more ??? and hair loss than the car is worth.

STILL COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS,YOU COULD OWN A FORD OR VAUXHALL :o :-[
