I seem to get around 27 on a short 3mile trip in the cold winter mornings, mostly uphill, with foot on floor in third  On a 200 mile trip home, it tends to get around 36-39, which i think is fair.

Hopefully when i get my 8V, it will be similar to what i already have - i hope for better, but not sure of that is too optimistic?!

of its a digifant it should be better, My MPG is poor in a morning according to the MFA anyway but I only tickle the throttle with it being cold still, up until about 70 degrees oil temp

I'm not sure which it will be, did they change it with the 88spec golfs, or with the 90 spec golfs? The one i'm after is an 88 spec, Its an F reg 1989 i think.

Digi came into play in mid-late 87 so if its an 88 or 89 then its digi.

I thought as much...

Cheers :)

Have you driven both did and k-jet? If so, is there any real difference?!

I have got a Digi 8 valve and a 16v Kjet, so in a way yes. The Kjet is more responsive, seems to be a bit of lag sometimes with digi, but its more efficient thus being better on fuel as its measured as apposed to being tap on tap off sort of thing. But in terms of the way they behave I cant notice a lot of difference really, both are good.
