Rear suspension Brake pipe questions!!
« on: 26 April 2006, 21:27 »
My mk2 8v Gti failed its mot today on rear suspension and corroded rear brake pipes and i've got a couple of questions if you'll indulge me.

1. The rear suspension failed on the shock leaking. I've removed it no problem and am trying to source a new one but have found gas or oil available?? Which is it??

2. I need to get new rear brake pipes for the beast, any ideas where i can source them, no problem doing the job myself though!!

3. He also failed on exessive play on both rear wheel bearing but he said i could propbably get away with just tightening them up. How??

Many thanks,

Chris.

1. buy a pair of gas shocks and change both rears

2. find a local (cheap) garage and get him to replace the pipes. was it the metal or rubber pipes that where corroded? its not a VW specific job so any garage will be able to do it. if its the rubber pipes look at investing in a set of goodridge braided hoses all round.

3. tightening the hub nut (ask the person doing the brake pipes to do it for you)
