Hi fellas,

I have seen an engine for my 8valve gti.  I do not have an engine lifter, therefore was thinking of doing it with some friends.

I dont really know the weight of an engine.  Would it be something that three of us could lift?

Cheers.

Also, because the engine is the same as the current unit would this be very difficult?

From memory lifting an engine is no fun- took me and my Dad to lift just the block and head on an old Astra engine, and the gearbox is also chffin heavy!

You can hire a crane for £25 per day from HSS or equiv- worth doing.

As for fitting, if it is a PB engine and your current is also PB you should have no difficulties.

Main thing is don't plan a timeframe- something always crops up!!  Good luck.....

you can do it with a trolly jack with the front end removed but an engine hoist makes thing so much easier!
