heater matrix!?

ok guys, so i have no heat and my daddy is gunna have a look for me this afternoon with me haynes and probably me gettin in the way! lol Just wondering what the score is with the matrix or something... the bit that was recalled? surely if they were recalled my VW stealership would still be able to re-call and replace mine!? can anyone shed some light for me!? many thanks! i tried searching but got mainly heater matrix replacement etc!

They were recalled because there were 1 or 2 law suits in the US about the matrix's exploding and scalding peoples feet due to excess pressure.

So VW did a recall and installed bypass valves which diverted the flow if the pressure got high.

The recall is now finished and the valves are no longer made. Although you can get lucky and find branches that still have some in stock.

If your heat isnt working then its probably because your valve is knackered (if you even have one) in which case i would remove it and put a bit of straight copper pipe in its place. Dont worry about the matrix exploding. its extremely rare and in reality it just dripps a little if it bursts.

dads gunna have a go at that, but i might ring stealership and have a word with them regarding the recall... worth a try if they'l do it for me! lol!

got a few mates who work up there too!
