hi ,im looking into getting a engine change i me golf,8v to a vr6  :grin:.
anyway its early stages at v mo,but ive just found this in a local paper,
mk3 vr6 no tax no mot Lreg full leather,good condition,need little work for mot ,£800 ono,
sound any good?and what parts could i use for my mk2,i know i will need the ecu/loom/engine n box and all the rest to do the swop ,but what about the rest,like brakes and maybe the seats? :undecided:
but also ive not found out how much it will cost for some one to do the swop. any ideas. 2 / 3 grand maybe? :rolleyes:   cheers :smiley:

its always better if you can get the whole car then everything you need will be there. 800notes sounds good if the engines is ok. you could also sell quite a bit of it and get yourself some money back which is nice. and u could have leather interior. i would go for it then you wont have any electric probs etc cos all of it will be there

800 big ones is dirt cheap with leathers. probably high miles and rust.

The early VR's had most problems like head gaskets. Ive picked one up for 500 quid before and was well chuffed

yeah just take the good bits, service and sort then engine, sell wat u dont need and junk the shell. i reckon u will make half your money back. go for it

yeah i thought it would be better to buy a whole car then Ive got everythin i need and can make sure its a good engine :grin:,i phoned the guy just after i posted it,,  hes sold it,
today Ive had some good advise,I'm gone get my cars handling spot on before i get some more power.so its on hold for me for a while ,

you might be better deciding on an engine change before you want to get your handling sorted, i dare say a VR6 will weigh a bit more that the 1.8 block, so you may well set the handling up perfectly and then bugger it up with the new engine  :sad:
