« on: 31 March 2006, 12:02 »
Just a quick quetion in light of Big Matt's post.....

What is the advantage of silicone hoses apart from looking clean and tidy or very blue if that's what you want

Are there any advantages in the engine?
Mk2 8v and 16v.

I think that the main advantage is that they do look a million times better than the standard hose.  But they will last a lot lot longer than the standard ones too.  They are less prone to dissintergrating (or breaking down) over time too.  So in a sense you can fit and forget.

The hoses I'm dealing with use high quality fabric reinforcement materials that are imbedded into the Silicone, which is applied to every single outer ply by hand.
The hoses are made with a Silicone internal liner for extra durability & superior quality.  They ate constructed using a special compounded Silicone with very little filler.
Cheap hoses are usually made with softer cheaper silicone grades and will be far less reliable in the long run. Quality is paramount !
