My engine is flooding!!

Car wouldnt start other day just kept making a clicking noise when key was turned second position, then wen turned to start there would be nothing, were as if you want to start it, you have to keep going at it until it fires up. was services 4,ooo miles ago, so question is why is it flooding??

Has anyone else had this problem, more to point has anyone else had the amount of problems ive had??

Did you move it the night before? or just start it for a few seconds / less than a minute?

Mine flooded once when I moved it 5 metres before bed - next day it was flooded. Apparently (according to RAC man) this is quite common in cold weather as car starts its usual rich cold start cycle - it needs to run for a minute or so, otherwise unburnt fuel remains in combustion chamber and soaks plugs etc. Suggestion was to start with foot to the floor on accelerator - strange I know, but it worked

Make sure you don't toast you starter motor

Has anyone else had any problems like this starting the car?? had diagnostics done yesterday and dint really come up with owt, we thought it might be the fuel sender relay so i replaced that today but its still same, theres a clicking noise from engine on second turn, which seems to be triggering the injectors to force fuel into engine.

Please tell me someone else has seen this before and i havent bought the only Dog golf VW made.

ive only ever had the same prob as charri42 moved it over in the driveway so my mum could park in the drive and the next day it started straight away but misfired for about 10secs and ran really rough but after a quick tap on the gas it sorted it self out, but as for yours you say a clicking sound when you turn the key?? sounds like the starter motor is either jammed or your battery is flat and not sending enough current to the starter to turn the engine..  :undecided:

LIke i said the clicking is coming from the engine, and you can hear the injectors forcing fuel into engine.

Starter and battery are fine, both have been checked.

Problem sorted, took car to Deutsche Mark in Doncaster, and after playin with the car for a while, had a look at ECU (which was covered in mold n all sorts of sh!t) so a quick clean up, checked terminals from ECU to Loom and bobs your auntie it works again!!

Gonna be sellin up tho, as soon as log book comes through, need a decent diesel instead.
