a mate got sandwidged in his gti engineering 1900 16v golf a while ago. he got most of what it was valued at and got the wreak back. then sold off parts which got him some more money.

sorry to hear about it matey. every other (not including us) drives a car that they can just buy another of. it's heart breaking knowing you can't just buy another car like the ones we drive :(

More condolences mate - but I have experience of handling written off cars - Strip it back to standard (stereos, alloys, speakers, new trim, lights etc....), the insurance company may offer you the value of the car, less the scrap value - take this offer, and try and sell the car on to a VW breaker, or, to someone for spares - you should get a lot more this way - I managed to make an extra 50% on top of the value of my car when  my BMW was crumpled.
I don't own this anymore - I just can't be arsed to change the picture

Sorry to hear about your misfortune.

The problem is insurance companies love taking your money but its like getting blood out of stone when you want some in return.

Thanks for replys, I still feel woosy now and a bit of a sore neck, so I am glad i went to hospital incase it does get any worse.

Here is a couple of pics of the damage, pretty sure they will write it off :(

The car is stock so there is nothing i can grab apart from the stereo before they take it away.

thats looks like it could be a bit costly too repair, but if you take the difference between value and scrap value from the insurers, you can keep the car and try and get it roadworthy again, in your spare time.

If the car is a write off you can buy the car back of the insurance company for around ?500+
The insurance company will also pay you for the value of the car.

When you get your car back you can sell the parts and make more cash or use the parts for another project? ???

This is slightly different from my experience -
The insurance company gave me the Value of the car, less the amount that they said it was worth to a breaker.
