Yep they do, but 4M's (along with most other 4WD's) suffer from more 'transmission loss' in power, than their 2wd counterparts. Also, don't forget that great big lump hanging over the front wheels which = Understeer City! :grin
As said, the turbo's are a lot more tunable (for not much cash) & they're more agile, too. You'd have to spend mega bucks to get a big power increase with the 4M's.
If 4wd is a must, then have you looked at S3's? They've come down a lot in price over recent years. My next car, I reckon..... 1.8T + 4wd. Nice
