Anyone know about roofracks for MK3/3 Doors with Sunroofs?

think you'll be ok just dont tilt the sunroof while you have the rack on, or you may get some rack/roof interface...

While looking for my car I noted this problem, and being a surfer with boards ranging from 6' to a massive 9'6'' I need a rack!! I got a 5 door inthe end because I can use a soft rack system that ataches around the roof using the door openings.
As for your problems boss I have no idea Im afraid I looked......

Thule ones have got quite some clearance on them i couldnt see why there'd be a problem as the sunoof spoiler is ony a few cm high and when on tilt the sunroof is about an inch to two inches high

ah.. think I remember the problem now (from my HellFrauds days...) the thule ones grab the door shuts, obviously on a 3 door there's nothing to grab at the back. You *can* buy some extender bars which grab at a different point to the support pad, but that adds about £60 to the price. IIRC you can get bars from the stealership for about £90....

yeah 85 quid.. i called em.. they said it doesnt matter if sunroof or not..

thing is tho.. the thule site says they do a system for 3 doors.. just not for sunroofs?! lol

i've found that the rubber runner bits have arrows pointing towards the front of the car at the points where i assume the rack would go.. but didnt really look properly to see any further.. should be the same on your 3 door bud..

finally had the need to try it out this weekend.. not bad.. however my main problem is now finding decent straps to secure the load i want to carry.. i got some 'buckle' straps from halfords since they didnt have any non industrial size hook+ratchet style ones.. and they sucked big time.. so i still havent really carried anything on it yet.. gonna have to look for some straps soon

no probs in the end with the sunroof etc.. fitting and removal are 5 minute jobs.

i even managed to get another key cut (since the racks only came with one) easily
