mk2 16v MFA on a mk1
« on: 06 March 2006, 11:14 »
Can if fit the mk2 stalks straight to the mk1 using the mk1 electrical connectors or do i need to use the mk2 ones?

I've got the full 16v loom & clocks and i'll be using that for the MFA - but thats a job for another day

I know someone who fitted mk3 stalks to a mk1 and it worked fine, so I can't see why mk2 stalks won't work.... best bet is to get the stalks and check the wiring against Mk1.

well mate my whiper stalk snaped off! so i have got some mk2 stalks to fit my self! might do it this weekend ...... if the weather permits, i will let you know if they fit! i think i have seen them fitted in golf+ before, i also have mk2 clocks fitted in mine and they work fine, if you get the early mk2 ones they go straight in as they have the same connectors the later ones are different!

I'll be attempting it this weekend too, but only if the weathers sh!t  if its nice i'll be ripping out my engine  :smug:

They'll definately bolt on  I've got the mk2 steering column at home cos i wanted the ignition barrel - the column bearing/steering lock is exactly the same, even the same part number

I've been meaning to dig my spare stalks (you want???)  out of the loft so i can check the wiring but a neighbours got our ladder
