I have got the same problem as you m4nesh but I managed to get less coolant in than you did. The VW user manual also says we get about 6.3litres in.

I used a measuring jug just to be precise but i put in more coolant just to be sure!  The other post about hose clips - i changed them all for jubilee clips?? Too late now after reading all the posts about them.

Im gonna get that by-pass valve, well let you know what happens!

do you reackon eurocar parts sell by-pass valves???  Would be cheaper than VAG?

With ref to not getting enough coolant in, are you sure you're draining all the coolant out? The obvious hose to undo is the lower radiator, but that won't drain the whole system.........the thermostat will still hold coolant in the engine, you need to undo the other relevant hoses too.

Ideally take the thermostat out, but the by-pass hose on the thermostat housing will work as well. That and the bottom rad hose should drain all of the coolant.
