Most good engine reconditioners will do it but.................................I'd go to someone who prepares rally engines if you can find one in your local area (and because I'm new to the boards I don't know where you are). I can recommend someone in Lancaster who does a fantastic job and the prices seem reasonable (change from £100 iirc). Check out rally boards and ask there 9goes against the grain I know but lightening cranks and flywheels is right up their street)

Okay, not far from me as the crow flies; I'm at the other end of the A66. ou might ask Keith Penman at Penman SEAT where he would recommend. I can't say too much about the garage itself (the swear filter would melt) but he is having a good run of success in his race car.

Just as an idea for prices: there's a place in Birmingham that advertises in Retro Cars mag sometimes that will lighten/balance the flywheel, crank, con rods and some other stuff i can't remember for £85 inc vat. I remember they say they specialise in rally preparation. I can't find the issue that i have seen the ad in at the moment, but if you want me to get a number i'll have another look, although Birmingham might be a bit too far from you?

Thats handy to know and you'll need to let us know how good a job they do.

Perhaps the site should start a directory of recommended places for all things that us dubbers need?

Well there is the board for recommended dealers, suppliers etc, under 'The Good Guys' but it would be nice to have a child board on here with stickys for dealers, suppliers, etc that are JUST for Mk2 Golf's & Jetta's. Any mod's listening?
