All i can find is in the haynes for "carburettor engins 1.6/1.8"...

inlet manifold removal

1. remove the carb
2. disconenct preheater wire at inline connector
3. drain coolant & remove hoses
4. disconnect vacuum hoses where necesary
5. where applicable disconnect stay rod betweent the base of the manifold and the crankcase
6. undo the manifold retaining nuts and bolts from there locations...

Useful eh? Gotta love the haynes....

the pic shows 4 bolts, 2 either side of the second spark plug and 2 allen bolts on the outsides of the manifold. Doesn;t say anything about removing the exhaust manifold.

Or have i got the wrong engine?!?

Good luck!

No you don't, but the 2nd & 3rd bolts from the right are a complete nighmare.  I used a long thin extension bit holder and a small ratchet spanner.  Even then it took alot of fumbling around to get it in there.  To be honest I'm not sure if it would be any more difficult to do it at night

Check my 2e2 FAQ post in the garage section for a complete start to finish guide :)
