bit of help required...
« on: 10 January 2006, 00:42 »
Right i need some specs and general info please.

16v discs were 256mm not including the caliper, so i need to know the min size of wheel that will fit over them. No matter how tight. Same question for the 8v discs as i know they were 239mm so smallest wheel size to go over them please.

Goodridge hoses, do i need the 4 or 6 line ones? I am presuming 6 hose for the rear calipers??

At what point do the wishbones start pointing up when lowering?? I.E. if i was to run 13s and had a 55mm drop would that effect the wishbones or driveshafts for that matter?

Drilled and grooved discs or just grooved/ drilled??

Road pads, i have heard many things like the green stuff are ok, but need time to warm up etc... any personal recommendations??

That is all for now chappies, cheers for all the help.

Edit: Tesh you might be of help in some of these aspects if you be willing me old mucker.

1. 14's for 256mm - dunno about 239mm
2. 6 line kit
3. 40mm on a 16v - wheel size wont effect wishbone position
4. drilled disks - add grooves if you like changing your brake pads more regulary. u never see any porsche or AMG mercs with grooves/drilled. they are only ever drilled as this is what dissapates the heat
5. Pagid Fast Road Pads

I've run 13" steelies over 239mm discs. back's do go on, but we had to take the angle grinder to the rear calipers as they rubbed slightly.

I was told I'd never see any improvement having drilled discs... but the look awesome :D

Wishbone angle on 13's wont make much difference with 55mm drop. I'd be more worried about fitting them over Caliper, and bottoming out the exhaust and sump!  :undecided:

Ive had a bad experience with Drilled Discs, they tend to crack between the holes, only hairline but still worrying.
The EBC Green stuff pads are fine for road use and dont need warming up, its the Red and Black pads that are for track use / heavy road use and need warming up. Ive also found performance pads work well but wear out quicker.
